About the Project

The project "La Fenice tells you: a magical ring between gnomes, giants and heroes" was elaborated with the conviction that we can also offer to the young public rather complex lyric titles if we find the right key and words to explain this extraordinary musical complexity.

The Wagnerian tetralogy is a wonderful musical flow and a story that starts from the Germanic cosmogony and advances in the narration of the eternal struggle between Good and Evil through the exploits of heroes, gnomes, nymphs, giants, dragons and gods. From the fundamental dramaturgical and narrative point of view, it has been possible to identify, within the many events that intersect in the Tetralogy, a clear line that contains those elements of surprise, fairy tale and magic, required to involve the young audience.

The Tetralogy, with its fantastic elements and its particular protagonists, often endowed with superhuman if not magical powers, is nothing but a great fairy tale or, better, a great "saga" full of surprises and fantasy. This is why the story we have chosen begins with the first opera of the tetralogy (Das Rheingold) and ends with Siegfried. This is because with the ending of Siegfried the possibility of hope opens up, thus conveying to the public a positive message even in moments of difficult choices.

Music, leitmotifs, verses written specifically for the plot with the Wagnerian themes and harmonies were adapted with didactic-musical view that makes this product a unique in its kind. Music flows uninterrupted throughout the course of the tale, through the use of the piano and percussions that replace the Orchestra.

The project is dedicated to the second cycle of primary school, it also includes a workshop dedicated to teachers with practical laboratories. Teachers work with the children to make them learn the two musical pieces; the same project is also presented to families on weekends.
