An extensive teaching and cultural project plays a major role each season in Opera de Rouen. This policy has been exemplified since 2010 with the programming of participatory opera, almost exclusive to Rouen in France at the present time, which involves thousands of children in singing adapted versions of great classical works.

The Orchestra is one of the first user of digital scores. After a first successful experience in 2016, the musicians play again with digital scores during an evening devoted to Offenbach, recorded at the Folies Bergère in December 2017, and broadcast in prime time on France 3 on January 1st 2018. These innovative experiences are carried out thanks to a partnership with the French start-up NewZik.

Several projects from the coming seasons will involve young artists and will be the occasion to support an incubator of young talents. These lyrical projects are built especially for 2018-2019 with the company «Miroirs étendus» and the support of the Orange Foundation around a performance inspired by the major work of Berlioz, «La Damnation de Faust».

Many educational activities, offered free of charge to schools and associations, were financed by sponsorship. So we published several educational books presenting classical music and opera. For the future, a pedagogical and fun website project will include funds raised from our sponsors as well as crowdfunding.
