Innovation and Creativity

Walk the Demon

If anything, NDT is known for shifting the boundaries of contemporary dance by working in a spectrum of creativity. The company’s repertoire is colorful and inexhaustible in both its talent and innovation that is often rooted in the principles of classical ballet. With eight to ten world premieres per season NDT is in the center of innovation. NDT is one of few production houses globally that offers the stage and the opportunity to many external choreographers to create work with a virtuoso dance company. It is therefore not surprising that international, award-winning Crystal Pite, Hofesh Shechter as well as Marco Goecke are regular guests at NDT next to Ohad Naharin, Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar, Alexander Ekman and Gabriella Carrizo & Franck Chartier among others. Their presence leads to creative cross-pollination of world class and unforgettable ballets.

Emerging Artists

Reunion of I, Philip Chbeeb

NDT breathes talent. Therefore the company takes her role as facilitator of emerging choreographers seriously. (Former) Dancers of the company with an exceptional choreographic talent are given the chance to create with the dancers of NDT and make their debut as a choreographer in the regular season’s programme.

For instance:

Medhi Walerski created Mammatus in 2008 for NDT 2, his latest creation SOON for NDT 1 premiered in 2017.

Freestyler Phillip Chbeeb, strongly connected to Hip Hop premiered his first piece with NDT 2, The reunion of I, November 15, 2018.
