On December 8th, the Opéra Orchestre de Montpellier presented a hybrid performance combining symphonic music and digital visuals created by GOBELINS Paris students, set to a work by composer Lisa Chevalier.
On January 7th, the Royal Swedish Opera and Ballet welcomed its contributors and members of the public in the grand entrance of the Opera House for a festive gathering in the style of a traditional Knut’s party, the Swedish “looting of the Christmas tree", marking the end of the festive season.
The Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb will premiere a lavish new production of Verdi’s Aida on Februart 27th, as part of a European co-production with Teatro Massimo (Palermo) and Csokonai National Theatre (Debrecen). Directed by Mario Pontiggia and conducted by Pier Giorgio Morandi, the production brings together the theatre’s leading soloists, choir, and orchestra with internationally acclaimed guest artists.
Following this premiere, on March 12th, the theatre will host an event in the spirit of the successful BSH model. Audiences, particularly under 30, will have the chance to meet artists, engage in informal conversations, and experience opera in an interactive, contemporary format. Emerging artist Sofija Petrović will lead the initiative, highlighting the commitment to supporting emerging talent and fostering direct artist–audience connections.
Staatsoper Hannover will present Homo Economicus, a chamber opera by Andrea Tarrodi with a libretto by Helena Röhr.
Drawing on Adam Smith’s The Wealth of Nations, the original opera questions the foundations of modern economic thought from a feminist and contemporary perspective.
Through humor and emotional depth, the work explores economics as lived experience — touching on care, motherhood, rational and irrational choices, and social responsibility.
Directed by Helena Röhr and conducted by Hyerim Byun, the production combines impressionistic orchestral writing with an accessible, human-centered narrative.
Theater Magdeburg will present Laika the Spacedog, a children’s opera by Russell Hepplewhite with a libretto by Tim Yealland and German translation by Barbara Zuckriegl, for ages 6 and up.
Set during the early Space Race, the production follows young student Mikhael as he witnesses the USSR’s historic launch of Sputnik 1 and the first living being into orbit. Directed by Dutch opera director Annemiek van Elst, this interactive show tells the story of a Moscow street dog embarking on an extraordinary journey, blending history, adventure, and friendship.
The Poznań Opera House presents SPECTRUM 4 on 27 and 29 February 2026, supported by the FEDORA Platform and co-funded by the European Union.
Part of the House’s annual festival programme, this roadshow showcases the collaborative effort behind every production.
