For €10

Ten bucks will get you a personal, hand-written (yes, we still practice the art of handwriting!) thank-you note on a pink VR pineapple postcard from one of our team members, probably one with the most legible handwriting.

For €25

For a donation of 25€, we will say thank you with a tote bag, a pink VR pineapple postcard and a very analog pink pineapple pencil for jotting down your ideas about theatre's digital future!

For €50

For a donation of 50€, we will say thank you with a tote bag filled with a paper notebook and a pink pineapple pencil (the pink pineapple is kind of our theme), to help you practice your analog mindfulness in the sea of digitality.

For €100

We will say thank you for a 100€ donation with a tote bag filled with goodies: A paper notebook, a pencil and a pair of comfy socks, all adorned with our logo, the pink pineapple. Wearing your inner theatre freak on your sleeve... er, your feet has never been so easy!

For €500

What are we up to? How do we do it? What has, and more importantly, what HASN'T worked and how did we solve it? For a donation of 500€ we say thank you by giving you the opportunity to (digitally) meet our team, get very exclusive insights into the development of "Erwartung" and ask away: How do opera singers maintain their voice? Is it difficult to remember all the notes? How do you direct a VR single-player game, is it different from directing an opera? How do you conduct a 100-person orchestra? How do tech people and art people work together? The team lays it all out in an exclusive Q&A session! Additionally, you will receive a tote bag and a pair of pineapple socks.

For €1,000

For a donation of 1000€ towards our goal, we will include your name (if you choose) on our list of donors in the game's credits, and you will also receive a hand-written thank-you note from one of our team members with the most legible handwriting, a goodie-filled tote bag with a pencil, a postcard and also an exclusive State Theatre of Augsburg T-Shirt, to wear your inner theatre freak on the outside.

For €2,000

If you choose to support us with a donation of 2000€, you will receive an exclusive preview of the finished product ahead of the official premiere, we will include your name (if you choose) in our list of donors in the game's credits, and we will send you a tote bag filled with a pencil, postcard and a hand-written thank you note from the team member with the most legible handwriting.

For €5,000

Wow, such a show of support deserves a resounding thank-you. For a donation of 5000€, we will immortalize your face in "Erwartung", giving you a cameo as a shadowy figure in our game (if you provide us with a picture of you). Additionally, we will put your name in the credits of our game (if you choose), and will also send you a tote bag, a T-Shirt, some very pineapple-y socks and a handwritten thank-you note from the director of "Erwartung" André Bücker personally, signed by the singer Sally du Randt and the conductor Domonkos Heja. Will not be as legible as other thank-yous, but is certainly original.

»Erwartung« pushes the concept of immersion into opera into a new dimension; our single-player VR game allows users to not only passively experience Arnold Schönberg’s musical monodrama, but to play it, to embody its heroine and to interact with the story in completely new ways.

Immerse yourself in a mystical world, experience a psychedelic horror story and become part of Arnold Schönberg's opera »Erwartung«. Experience opera as a 360° VR game!

About the Project

Arnold Schönberg's opera encounters video game mechanics: The player experiences a woman's desperate, fearful search for her lover from a first-person perspective. A 360° VR rendered world immerses you in a surreal, eerie forest nightscape and the protagonist's troubled inner life as she finds her partner - lifeless. Schönberg's impressive orchestral music in surround sound, the highly emotional expression of an opera singer and the opportunity to act at selected points in the plot transform this opera experience into an intense performance experience.

With great expression, Arnold Schönberg's music and Marie Pappenheim's text reflect the protagonist's state of mind through the dissolution of syntax and tonality. An orchestra of more than 100 musicians accompanies the multifaceted psychogram of a murderess in this rarely performed work. In Schönberg's expressive, expressionistic tonal language, both the gloomy, eerie forest scenery and the gripping psychological drama of a desperate, fearful, jealous woman can be experienced directly.

Why should you support us?

To make the VR opera game more accessible to an international audience, we want to translate the libretto into many languages, so that users can activate subtitles while playing and thus come to a deeper understanding of the text. With 10,000 € the following languages would be selectable:

  • English
  • Spanish
  • Russian

  • Englisch
  • Spanisch
  • Russisch
  • Chinesisch
