Théâtre des Champs-Elysées

New Audiences

The Théâtre des Champs-Elysées pays particular attention to young audiences, through affordable price policy and educational programs: 100 seats at 10€ are available for each concert and, 15.000 children sign up every season for an “interactive” operatic experience.

This approach includes the new participatory opera Les Petites Noces for young audiences. Teachers prepare their pupils' visit at the start of the school year using the teaching tools they are given (information brochure, CD, scores, etc.).

Innovation & Creativity

In 2016/2017, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées launched the first Transmedia project within opera: Penelope’s Odyssey, a Transmedia storytelling participatory project on Monteverdi’s The Return of Ulysses to his Homeland, in which the audience could participate and get involved.

In partnership with several universities, we created multiple media platforms - comic books, video games, mobile apps - to tell the story of Penelope waiting for her lover to come back home. Penelope, witness of her time, stepped into the future to settle at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées just for three months.

Emerging Artists

For many years, the operas performed at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées have been presenting young talents to the audience. The transmission between renowned singers and young singers is an important aspect of our productions.

Alongside performances by established names, the Théâtre has always given young talents a chance to shine. The careers of Philippe Jaroussky, Hélène Grimaud, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Sabine Devieilhe and Jakub Józef Orliński all took off here, and the Théâtre is often one of the first Parisian venues played by future famous artists.

Philanthropy

The Cercle des Mécènes du Théâtre des Champs-Elysées organizes monthly events for its members: private rehearsals, backstage visits, meetings with artists, private visits to museums in partnership with several cultural venues, etc.

We also organize every year the Patrons' Dinner on the stage of the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées. For one evening only, the stage is transformed into a unique reception area where artists and passionate music lovers meet.

Finally, in May 2019, we launched the American Patrons' Circle in order to involve the American music lovers wishing to support us.
