"To be part of the new FEDORA Platform, where knowledge and competence both on an economic and artistic level connect, is appealing. To be connected to the society, in a serious way, is the future of art and a strong reason for The Royal Swedish Opera to be a Platform Member."

Birgitta Svendén
General & Artistic Director

The Royal Swedish Opera is Sweden’s national stage for opera and ballet, and was founded by king Gustav III in 1773. In the beautiful 1890’s building in central Stockholm, a mix of first performances and classical masterpieces are staged every year. All within three main areas: opera, ballet, and activities for children and adolescents.

The Royal Swedish Opera receives the majority of its funding from the Swedish state, but an increasing part derives from ticket sales and private donations.
