Stuben-mosel-musikfestival i
Bernkastel-Kues • Germany
Founded in 1985, the Mosel Music Festival has become the largest festival of its kind in Rhineland-Palatinate. Since 1991, it has been part of the Kultursommer Rheinland-Pfalz and today stands for artistic excellence, stylistic diversity, and innovative programming. Each summer, it invites audiences to experience outstanding music in one of Europe’s most attractive cultural and wine-growing regions.
The festival presents a broad spectrum of genres, ranging from chamber music, classical and romantic orchestral works, and baroque to contemporary music, as well as jazz, chanson, singer-songwriter formats, and world music. Internationally renowned soloists and ensembles meet artists from related genres, creating a distinctive artistic profile.
Concerts are held at exceptional venues along the Mosel River between Trier and Koblenz, including churches, monasteries, castles, Roman sites, historic industrial monuments, and renowned wineries. These atmospheric locations, set within the Mosel valley landscape, are central to the festival’s identity.
Now in its fifth decade, the Mosel Music Festival combines tradition and innovation through a strong commitment to artistic quality and the creative use of historic and contemporary spaces. With its wide range of artists and venues from Luxembourg to the Mosel’s confluence with the Rhine, the festival is a cornerstone of cultural life in Rhineland-Palatinate. Since November 2025, it has been led by Co-Directors Klaus Gasteiger and Dr. David Maier, who guide the festival’s development from Bernkastel-Kues in close exchange with international cultural networks.
