Created in 2008, the Collectif Io is a multidisciplinary artistic ensemble, specialized in musical creation. Their original repertoire consists of operas, pocket operas, musical tales, and other miscellaneous forms. After many years of working on youth oriented theme, the Collectif Io is now turning towards more abstract and contemporary creations, at the crossroads of languages, where music meets dance, theatre and visual arts. Along with their creative activity, the Collectif Io has been involved in cultural projects since 2011 and has created a youth based company that now boasts more than 30 teenagers.

The Collectif Io is supported by the DRAC and the Region Grand Est, the Marne department, the city of Reims and the Greater Reims

ABOUT "XYNTHIA, L'ODYSSÉE DE L'EAU (XYNTHIA, THE WATER ODYSSEY)"

Freely inspired by Ibsen’s An Enemy of the People, Xynthia, l’odyssée de l’eau (Xynthia, the water odyssey) is an opera, about water, the cosmos and ourselves. Its title is a direct reference to the storm that hit several European countries in 2010. When the water cycle meets contemporary issues, history seems to repeat itself. On a cosmic scale, liquid water is scarcer than gold.

Bringing together dancers, singers, actors and musicians on stage raises awareness about the preservation of our water resources, a rare resource threatened by human activity.
