I believe the Vicenza Opera Festival is the world’s most exciting. It’s held in the magnificent Teatro Olimpico (1585), in perfect condition. The Budapest Festival Orchestra doesn’t just play, they sing and act onstage. Top singers feel privileged to perform here. I ensure organic unity: theatre serves music, music serves theatre. Vicenza should be a Mecca for opera lovers. Thanks, Fedora, for spreading the word!

Iván Fischer, Music Director

DISCOVER OUR ON-GOING SEASON

Iván Fischer's upcoming Magic Flute production lets the singers step in and out of a children's book, recreating the opera's original fairy-tale environment. Video director Sergio Metalli and graphic designer Margit Balla join Iván Fischer with their skills and passion to create a spectacular visual world for Mozart's music. An updated version of a previous production will be performed at the 2026 Vicenza Opera Festival, as well as in Budapest and at the Baden-Baden Winter Festival.
