Orfeo & Majnun is a community project including a music theatre in English and Arabic, a parade and a 'parcours', representing the creative work made by Brussels' communities on the myth of Orpheus & Eurydice and the love story of Layla and Majnun. It celebrates the diversity of (the capital of) Europe and reaches out to new audiences, i.e. people who don't automatically know opera or the opera house. The music theatre is also made involving a lot of volunteers, schools, children & youth choirs ... and combines Western and Eastern music. After its world premiere in Brussels, Orfeo & Majnun, supported by Creative Europe, will go to the Wiener Konzerthaus (Austria), the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence (France) European Capital of Culture Valletta 2018 (Malta), Operadagen Rotterdam (the Netherlands), the Krakow Festival Office (Poland) and the MSMFeira (Portugal). Please consult www.demunt.be or www.orfeoandmajnun.eu for all details.
