FEDORA is delighted to welcome Freunde des Nationaltheaters in München e.V. as a new member of the FEDORA Network.

Founded in 1951, Freunde des Nationaltheaters is one of Munich’s most long-standing and dedicated cultural support organisations, united by a deep love of opera, music theatre and the iconic Nationaltheater, home of the Bavarian State Opera.

The association brings together around 1,000 members who share the opportunity to develop a special connection with one of the world’s leading opera houses. As friends and supporters, they participate in shaping the artistic life and cultural impact of the Nationaltheater, fostering both excellence and community engagement.

For decades, the Freunde des Nationaltheaters have been inseparable from Munich’s cultural landscape, not only supporting architectural preservation and construction projects, but also promoting young talent, orchestras, galleries and artistic initiatives.

Members enjoy exclusive events, guided tours, special performances, and meaningful encounters with artists and colleagues, deepening their relationship with the rich operatic tradition of the city.

From nurturing young musicians to supporting landmark productions like Wagner’s Ring Cycle at the Bavarian State Opera, the association’s commitment to cultural life is both historic and forward-looking.

We are united by our love of classical music and our desire to preserve and promote the National Theatre – the Bavarian State Opera – as a central cultural hub in Munich.

The association offers its approximately 1,000 members the unique opportunity to develop a special closeness and relationship with the National Theatre as part of a strong community and to shape and participate in its development as friends and supporters.
