Trois fois Orphée
A unique sound sculpture (Equa) by the artist Nadine Schütz is conceived as a new soundscape and visual landscape in which an autonomous community will develop its relationship with the world, the unknown, mystery and the need for transcendence within a contemporary ecological fable.

Presentation

In a remote place, a drilling accident occurs. Once the disaster
has passed, the local village community discovers, to their astonishment, a landscape
that has been completely transformed. A huge reef, resembling an ammonite fossil, has
emerged from the bowels of the earth and is emitting unsettling sounds. What do these noises mean? What can be done in the face of this presence? Bullied by the mining company seeking to resume
exploitation of the vein, these residents will hope for every possible outcome. In vain. Until they fall silent.

First, the demon lies in wait; then, finally, a direct connection to the earth.
Questioning this relationship with sound; to the point of madness.

Artistic Team

Nadine Schütz - structure & sound design: She is the driving force behind the project. Lisa Streich - composition: Unanimously recognized by the whole team as the composer best suited to the original concept, given her aesthetic and her work. Paul-Henry Bizon - libretto: Whilst reflecting on acoustics and on how to make the subject accessible, engaging and poetic to as wide an audience as possible, he also wrote a children’s book on the side, based on these reflections. Furthermore, he was keen to return to live performance. Eddy Garaudel - director: His talent and his approach to directing on stage, his taste for hybrid forms and his curiosity made him the ideal choice. Constant Chiassai-Polin - costume design, Georgia Tavares - light design, Gaspard Lautrey - builder (C-Cube), Matéo Fayet - computer-based music production (Ircam), Luca Bagnoli - sound transmission (Ircam), Geoffroy Jourdain - conductor (Les Cris de Paris). His talent and his approach to music crossed with other artistic expressions, his taste for hybrid forms and his curiosity made him the ideal choice.
