Irish National Opera is a newly-established opera company based in Dublin.

It was created through the merger of two award-winning companies, Opera Theatre Company and Wide Open Opera. Irish National Opera will produce large-scale productions in Ireland’s larger opera venues, principally in Dublin, and smaller touring productions throughout Ireland from 2018.

The company is committed to a special focus on career opportunities for Irish artists, including musicians and creative teams.

Irish National Opera will establish a Young Artists Programme to encourgare and develop emerging opera professionals. The company will collaborate with many orchestras and other contemporary music groups as well as create its own orchestra for some productions.

Audience development is at the core of the company’s remit. Irish National Opera will elaborate projects and intitiatives designed to attract newcomers of all ages to opera to reach communities formerly untouched by this art form.
