Nicola Creed, Executive Director - Garsington Opera

“We are delighted to be working with FEDORA to help young audiences discover opera at Garsington. Our mission is to share a passion for the arts with those who face barriers to engagement; the OperaFirst project, which forms the FEDORA Roadshow in 2019, is a joyous celebration of this aim.”

Nicola Creed

Executive Director

An internationally renowned summer opera festival based in Buckinghamshire, UK. Each June & July the company presents four productions in its award-winning 600-seat theatre on the Wormsley Estate, home of the Getty family. Set in the outstanding beauty of the Chiltern Hills an hour from London, audiences are invited to enjoy the grounds before the opera and during a long dinner interval as part of the experience.

Throughout its history, Garsington Opera has championed the best emerging talent alongside established artists. The Alvarez Young Artists’ Programme is a leading initiative which has recruited and nurtured many world-class artists at the start of their careers. On the other side of the footlights a young membership programme provides subsidised tickets to those aged 35 or under, developing new audiences for the future.

A dynamic year-round Learning & Participation programme provides creative workshops to all ages, using music and performance as tools for personal, social and emotional development. The programme aims specifically to engage those who face significant barriers to engagement with the arts, both locally and nationally.
