Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb
Every season the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb prepares a special subscription n. 11 for students. It offers the possibility to see 6 performances from the theatre's repertoire for a special price. This subscription is promoted in middle and high schools as well as the university of Zagreb. It allows the young audience to take part in opera, ballet and drama performances and for the theatre to educate and create a new audience for the future.
Opera in schools
In 2016/2017 we organized the "Opera in Schools" project for pupils of elementary schools. The program aimed at connecting younger generations with operatic art. All participant teachers unanimously agreed that it is necessary to continue to develop similar programs that introduce children and young people to the artwork. Surveys were completed by students before and after their participation. Their feedback was very positive and they were extremely enthusiastic for new theater visits.
Innovation & Creativity
Kein Licht, winner of the second edition of the FEDORA-Rolf Liebermann Prize for Opera, is a European co-production. The text and the music of the work are closely linked, creating a contemporary Singspiel. At the same time accessible, innovative and daring, this operatic form was reborn in a contemporary way in order to reach modern audiences, to speak about our failures and our achievements. This piece marks the continuation of the international collaborations of the CNT in Zagreb.
