FEDORA Platform supports the Friday Opera Explorers series by the Irish National Opera

Friday Opera Explorer is a wonderful initiative by the Irish National Opera. Every Fridays between the 30th of April and the 28th of May, you can enjoy live on their Youtube channel a total of 30 arias, by 17 composers and with 10 singers, and one composer interview per week.

Arias from composers and operas which feature in their future productions have made their way into the Friday Opera Explorer programmes as well as singers you can expect to see on their stages before too long.  There are also interviews with living composers whose work features in upcoming productions, Gerald Barry, Amanda Feery, Finola Merivale, Emma O’Halloran and Jennifer Walshe.

The Friday Opera Explorer programmes each focus on different areas of the operatic repertoire and the composers they have chosen represent a wide range of operatic style and national traditions – Beethoven, Berlioz, Bellini, Donizetti, Wagner, Gounod, Massenet, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Rimsky Korsakov, Borodin and Strauss. What they have in common is the fact that they are all awaiting their first staged production from INO. So the series can be regarded as a taster menu of future pleasures.

You can watch all the episodes on their Youtube channel here.

Special thanks to the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union for making this possible.
