DISCOVER THE SEASONS 2022-2023

AUSTRIA

Wiener Staatsoper

Discover the new season of the Wiener Staatsoper! The season will be composed of a few revivals such as "La Juive", "Aida", and "Lady MacBeth von Mzensk", as well as premieres like "Von der Liebe Tod", "Salome" and "Dialogues  des Carmélites".


BELGIUM

Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel

For this new season 2022-2023, the Music Chapel is taking the gamble of refocusing even more intensely on the artists in residence and their teachers and guests. This season will be composed of 90 concerts including 24 Prestige concerts, 12 Associate artists concerts, 9 Discovery concerts and more than 40 Laboratory concerts.

Opera Ballet Vlaanderen

The season 2022-2023 of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen is all about desire, in all its forms, flavours and colours. From pitch-black romance to passionate love, over an irresistible urge to avenge, to a desire that transcends everything and everyone and brings mankind and the entire planet to its destruction.  

Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie/De Munt

The new season 2022-2023 of La Monnaie/De Munt has been announced! Presented as "a much needed splash of color to smother some of the darkness (...)", this new season presents contemporary pieces such as De Keersmaeker's "En Atendant" or La Horde's "Room with a View" but also adaptations of classics such as Saint Saëns' "Henry VIII" and Strauss' "Der Rosenkavalier".

Discover Hrvatsko narodno kazaliste u Zagrebu's new season 2022-2023: 

FINLAND

Finnish National Opera and Ballet

The 2022-2023 season of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet is now announced! From darker tones with Kaija Saariaho and Sofi Oksanen's acclaimed "Innocence" (nominated for the FEDORA Opera Prize 2021), to new interpretations of Puccini's"Turandot" and Petipa's "Raymonda", we will be confronted with the whole spectrum of emotions this upcoming season.  

FRANCE

Opéra de Lille

Opéra de Lille introduces its programme for the new season 2022-2023. The opera programme will include innovative works such as "Freitag aus Licht" directed by Silvia Costa, "Pelléas et Mélisande" directed by Daniel Jeanneteau. The dance programme will be just as rich, marked by the reunion with Boris Charmatz, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Gisèle Vienne and the Lyon Ballet, but also performances of emerging dancers Bintou Dembélé, Marcos Morau and Julie Desprairie.

Opéra de Lyon

For Opéra de Lyon, being a place of creation means encouraging the birth of works, risking new readings of past works in the light of today. The season has the ambition to give form to and bring to the stage what we are experiencing. It present exciting contemporary creations such as Alessandro Sciarroni's "The Collection", but also readaptations of classics such as Debussy and Maeterlinck's "Mélisande" or Tchaïkovski's "Sleeping Beauty".

Opéra National de Paris

Be inspired by the new season presented by Opéra national de Paris with bold creations such as Alan Lucien Øyens', "The Dante Project" in cooperation with the Royal Opera House, as well as "Triptych: The missing door, The lost room and The hidden floor" by Peeping Tom (the company that won the FEDORA - VAN CLEEF & ARPELS Prize for Ballet 2021). This season will also revisit classics such as Mozart's "Magic Flute" or Puccini's "Tosca".

Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier

This season promises to showcase the young talents of tomorrow with an inspiring mix of seven operas, concerts and creations for young audiences mixing musical influences. Additionaly, the season will celebrate the end of Michael Schønwandt's role as conductor, with concerts of classics of the repertoir which he will conduct.



Opéra de Rouen

Described as "ambitious" and "eclectic" by Forum Opéra, this season will present promising readaptations of classics such as Benjamin Britten's "Midsummer Night's Dream" directed by Robert Carsen. We will also encounter Józef Orliński in a pop version of Georg Friedrich Haendel's "Serse", as well as Charles Gounod's "Romeo & Juliet" with costumes by Christian Lacroix. The ballet "Romeo & Juliet" choreographed by Benjamin Millepied will also be presented.

Théâtre des Champs-Elysées

Discover the new season of the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris. With one bold adaptation, three new original creations - including one collaborative opera - and more than 180 representations, this season promises to be nothing short of amazing.




GERMANY

Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg

Deutsche Oper am Rhein's new season includes around 250 performances on the big stages in Düsseldorf and Duisburg - twenty five different operas, ten ballet programmes, smaller and larger concert formats, gala events.

Oper Leipzig

With a new team and a radically new approach to opera and dance, discover the exciting 2022-2023 season of the Oper Leipzig! This season, the opera house offers interesting takes on classics with premieres of Lortzing's "Undine", Verdi's "Otello", Schröder's "Fusion" and Fall's "Die Dollar-Prinzessin".  

Staatsoper Hannover

The Staatsoper and StaatsBallett Hannover present their new season 2022-2023, including a few premieres and readaptations. For opera, the institution will propose "Mefistofele" by Arrigo Boito and FEDORA's Opera Prize Winner 2019 "Denis & Katya" by Philip Venables but also classical operas such as Gioacchino Rossini's "Barber of Sevilla" and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro". As for dance, Staatsballett Hannover's Director Marco Goecke will propose three new creations "Der Feuervogel", " Glaube – Liebe – Hoffnung" and "Spiel des Lebens".

Theater Magdeburg

The new season opens with a big theatre festival early September. The festival includes four premieres and marks the start of a fresh start at Magdeburg Theatre. Among the works presented, audiences will be inspired by Rimsky-Korsakov's "The Golden Cockerel" and Calderón de la Barca's "Life a Dream".




Staatsoper Unter den Linden

Discover the 2022-2023 season of the Staatsoper Berlin! Having for favourite motto the German word "Uferlos", this season is placed under the sign of freedom, borderlessness and endlessness and announces itself promising for audience. Don't miss Steen-Andersen's "Walk the Walk", Donizetti's "L'Elisir D'Amore" or Wagner's "Die Walküre".  

GREECE

Greek National Opera

The Greek National Opera’s ambitious season programme for 2022/2023, curated by Artistic Director Giorgos Koumendakis, features ten new opera and ballet productions, one new work of opera, five revivals of past productions, music concerts, major co-productions with some of the world’s foremost opera houses, collaborations with leading directors and acclaimed conductors, and the highly anticipated debuts of top-tier opera singers in new roles.  

IRELAND

Irish National Opera

Irish National Opera has announced the programme for its 2022/2023 season, featuring more than sixty performances. Beginning in July and running until June 2023, the season will include "Out of the Ordinary" a new virtual-reality community opera (winner of the FEDORA Digital Prize 2021); the first production of Rossini’s "William Tell" in Ireland since 1877; and the UK premiere of the INO-commissioned "Least Like The Other" by Brian Irvine and Netia Jones.


Wexford Festival Opera

Discover the 71st edition of the Wexford Festival Opera. From 21 October to 6 November 2022, the Wexford Festival Opera will be hosting a selection of diverse operas including the premiere of "The Selenites", a new WFO commission by Artist-in-Residence Conor Mitchell. Other works such as Fromental Halévy's "La Tempesta",  Félicien David's "Lalla Roukh" and Antonín Dvořák's "Armida" amongst others. The Festival will also be hosting two galas - the Daniela Barcellona Gala and the Gala Concert - as well as concerts.

ITALY

Teatro alla Scala di Milano

Teatro alla Scala presents the 2022-2023 Season. More than 250 performances for a wide and diversified audience. It features a total of fourteen operas in Italian, English, French, German, Russian, Czech and Neapolitan - the Milanese house sees this as the legacy of Scala's cosmopolitan culture, and the European openness maintained today by musical director Riccardo Chailly.  

LUXEMBOURG

Théâtres de la Ville du Luxembourg

With their diverse programme, the Théâtres de la Ville du Luxembourg aim to stage all types of theatre, song and dance performances to the highest quality standards. This season includes a couple of readaptations such as Mozart's "Die Entführung aus dem Serail" and Wagner's "Tristan & Isolde" but also more contemporary works such as Filidei's "L'inondation". The programme also proposes danse performances with Bianca Li's "Le Bal de Paris", Pina Bausch's "Das Stück mit dem Schiff" and the Nederlands Dans Theater NDT 2. 

NETHERLANDS

Nederlands Dans Theater

This season intersects a multiplicity of ideas, perspectives, and styles by some of today’s most passionate, emerging and established voices working in contemporary dance. It will celebrate choreographers such as Jiří Kylián, Sharon Eyal, Felix Landerer, Alexander Ekman, and Marco Goecke, it will mark the return of Ohad Naharin’s acclaimed "The Hole", it will highlight Crystal Pite's first collaboration with NDT1, and it will showcase rising new choreographic voices Noé Soulier, Botis Seva and Andrew Skeels.  

NORWAY

Den Norske Opera & Ballett

Den Norske Opera & Ballett is presenting its new season 2022-2023 with a wide variety of operas and dance creations including classics, readaptations and contemporary works. It is also interesting to note that this season is commited to showcasing contemporary creations via its "Carte Blanche" programme and will also address younger audiences with dedicated creations.  

POLAND

Poznań Opera House

The 2022-2023 season will offer six new opera and ballet productions, fifteen revivals, multiples special events, concerts, recitals, educational programmes, and exhibitions at the opera gallery and theatre museum.Be inspired by Verdi’s “La Forza Del Destiono” which hasn’t been performed in Poland for over a century and discover Piazzolli’s tango-opera “Maria de Buenos Aires” as well as Pastor’s ballet “Dracula”.  

PORTUGAL

Ópera do Castelo

Ópera do Castelo is hosting its 3rd edition of the Operasfest. Taking place in Lisbon from 19 August to 10 September, this year's festival will propose with humour, the going back of the mask to the world of phantasy and disguise, opening and closing this year’s programme with contrasting masked balls! SPAIN

Teatro Real

The Teatro Real has designed an artistic, musical and choreographic new season with works that encompass five centuries and combine acclaimed titles, such as "La Sonnambula", "Aida", "Tristan und Isolde", "Turandot" or "Arabella", with contemporary pieces like "Nixon in China" by John Adams, "Orpheus" by Philip Glass, "Diàlegs de Tirant i Carmesina" by Joan Magrané or "Quartett" by Luca Francesconi.

Gran Teatre del Liceu

Discover the new season 2022-2023 of the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. Untitled "The Leap into the Void", the institution's new programm proposes truly innovative and contemporary works such as "Coppél-i.A.", based on the emblematic classical ballet, but also the "7 Deaths of Maria Callas" presented by world-famous perfomance artist Marina Abramović as well as "Alexina B." (shortlisted for the FEDORA Opera Prize 2023).  

UNITED KINGDOM

Birmingham Royal Ballet

Discover Birmingham Royal Ballet's season 2022/2023 which will include a Summer and Autumn triple bill filled with United Kingdom and World Premieres with performances of ballet classics "Coppélia" and "Swan Lake" but also Carlo Acosta's promising take on "Don Quixote".

Britten Pears Arts

Discover Britten Pears Arts' Summer at Snape, "a month of music and memorable days out". During the whole months of July and August, Britten Pears Arts will propose a wide range of concerts on various scenes. If you are in the UK, don't miss your chance to book a countryside getaway to enjoy great music and beautiful landscapes!

English National Ballet

Discover the 2022-2023 season of the English National Ballet. From classic revivals to contemporary masterpieces, this season has something for everyone. Amongst famous classics such Derek Deane’s timeless production of "Swan Lake" and Wayne Eagling’s beloved "Nutcracker", Tamara Rojo's "Raymonda" (nominated for the FEDORA-VAN CLEEF & ARPELS for Ballet 2021).

Opera North

The season features two innovative collaborations with arts organisations in the city, a new co-production of Strauss’ "Ariadne auf Naxos" and eagerly-anticipated revivals of three of their most popular productions namely Verdi's "La traviata", Monteverdi's "Orpheus" and Puccini's "Tosca".



Royal Opera House

Discover the Royal Opera House's new season 2022-2023. Unveiling a rich range of new works, world premieres and beloved revivals, the institution will host over 40 productions showcasing the artistry and virtuosity of its acclaimed dancers and emerging talent.
