Celebrating the first edition of World Opera Day
FEDORA's Activities
On October 25th, 2019 the first World Opera Day was launched by Opera Europa, OPERA America and Ópera Latinoamérica with the support of national and international cultural organisations that FEDORA is delighted to be part of.
The date of October 25th was chosen as a celebration of the birthdays of Georges Bizet, composer of Carmen, and Johann Strauss II, composer of Die Fledermaus, who have contributed greatly known and loved works to the repertoire.
On this day, opera companies around the world built the awareness campaign through live and online activities and events. OperaVision, the free streaming platform supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe programme, celebrated World Opera Day with streams of Carmen from National Centre for Performing Arts Beijing and Die Fledermaus from Vienna State Opera.

Joining the Conversation on Emerging Choreographic Talent in Ballet at Théâtre de la Ville

On 28 April 2026, the roundtable discussion L’émergence chorégraphique dans les Ballets will take place at Théâtre de la Ville – Sarah Bernhardt, where journalist and researcher Laura Cappelle and choreographer Bruno Bouché, Director of the CCN•Ballet de l’Opéra national du Rhin, will lead a conversation on the different artistic paths, production models, and development opportunities that ballet companies can offer emerging choreographers.

On December 15th, FEDORA held its General Assembly online. This digital event was moderated by Ms Edilia Gänz, Director of FEDORA and gathered the members of our network and honored guest speakers such as Mr Xavier Troussard, Head of the New European Bauhaus Unit at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.
