Aoi Nakamura

Short Bio

Aoi Nakamura received her education at Leipzig Opera ballet school and graduated from the State Ballet School Berlin, in 2006. Since 2011 she has worked with the Jasmin Vardimon Company (2012-present), Punchdrunk (2014), Angie Hiesel Production (2011,13) and Neon Dance (2013-present). Her choreography Ototoxic (2008) was awarded first prize at the international choreography competition at Aarhause in 2010 and performed in Germany and Japan. She has choreographed several theatre productions at State Theatre of Wiesbaden in Germany (2010-11), Dance4’s CAT in Nottingham (2013), and an evening celebrating 150 years of friendship between Germany and Japan in Hesses, Germany (2011).

Aoi Nakamura is Artistic Director of AΦE, an Ashford-based dance company founded in 2013 by Aoi Nakamura and Esteban Fourmi with the vision to incorporate technology into the theatre experience and bring audiences closer to the art of dance.
