Short Bio

Peter divides his work between contemporary ballet and film & television. A highly sought-after ballet composer, he is currently writing his tenth full-length ballet, Lady Macbeth for Dutch National Ballet (premiering April 2025). Recent performances include Doña Peron, Coco Chanel, A Streetcar Named Desire, Frida, and Broken Wings, alongside the 2023 premiere of Emma Bovary for the National Ballet of Canada.

His major ballet scores include The Crucible (Scottish Ballet), Camino Real (Atlanta Ballet), The Little Prince (BalletX), and the internationally acclaimed A Streetcar Named Desire, winner of the Sky Arts Dance Award and an Olivier Award nominee. He received a National Dance Award nomination for Outstanding Creative Contribution in 2019.

His screen work is best known for the long-running BBC series Call the Midwife, winner of a Music & Sound Award and multiple ASCAP awards, alongside dramas such as Great Expectations, Five Daughters, and Cider With Rosie, and documentaries including Simon Schama’s Power of Art. His theatre credits include numerous productions for the RSC, the National Theatre, and Shared Experience Theatre.
