World Music Day
Organisational Members
Join us in celebrating World Music Day, also known as Fête de la Musique!
The tradition originated in France in 1982, marking 21 June as Fête de la Musique, which is devoted to celebrating musical diversity and inclusion worldwide. Since its international spread in 1985, planned for the same year as the European Year of Music, participation and engagement for the event has continuously expanded and reached 120 countries in 2017.
Each year, this international day brings people together to embrace and enjoy music from all genres and cultures, fostering a vibrant environment for sharing musical talents and passions. Fête de la Musique is celebrated for its free and inclusive nature, allowing everyone to participate in and enjoy spontaneous, communal music performances in public spaces. The festival also serves as a platform for new talent, providing emerging artists with the opportunity to showcase their skills to a broad audience.
We at FEDORA proudly support Fête de la Musique's mission to democratise access to music, promote emerging artists, and foster community engagement. Join us in celebrating this joyous occasion, whether you're an artist or a music lover, and immerse yourself in the global musical tapestry.
