World Environment Day 2025
Industry News
As today marks World Environment Day 2025, we are reminded that creativity and culture hold immense power to advocate for sustainable practices across our industries.
On this occasion, we celebrate our partnerships with Aktionsnetzwerk Nachhaltigkeit in Kultur und Medien and Theatre Green Book, our sustainability expert partners, with whom we join forces to envision and build a greener, more responsible future for the performing arts.
The performing arts have long been a space for innovation and storytelling, but in the face of climate urgency, they must also become leaders in sustainability.
Through our collaboration, we aim at embedding sustainable practices into cultural practices, ensuring that artistic expression does not come at the expense of our environment.
Looking ahead, we wish to highlight Aktionsnetzwerk Nachhaltigkeit’s participation in the upcoming Green Culture Festival in Essen, Germany. An event that will bring together cultural leaders, artists, and sustainability experts from across Europe to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore innovative solutions to reduce the environmental impact of the cultural sector.
Together, through creativity and conscious action, we can craft a world where art and environment thrive side by side.
Aktzionsnetzwerk Nachhaltigkeit is a cross-sectoral contact point for the topic of operational ecology in the culture and media sectors.
The central Green Culture Contact Point provides a current overview of activities related to ecological and climate-friendly transformation.
If Theatre is to be part of the most vital conversation humanity faces, then it has to change its practices. The Theatre Green Book is an initiative by the whole of theatre to work more sustainably.
As part of our ongoing mission to promote sustainability in the performing arts, we are proud to collaborate with the Theatre Green Book, our expert partner dedicated to environmentally responsible practices in theatre.
