Woman at Point Zero - Winner of the FEDORA - GENERALI Opera Prize 2020

UPCOMING PERFORMANCES OF "WOMAN AT POINT ZERO", FEDORA - GENERALI OPERA PRIZE WINNER 2020

Woman at Point Zero is a new opera based on the classic 1975 novel by the Egyptian writer Nawal El Sadaawi. Ferdaous, the main character - whose name in Arabic means paradise - tells her own story from hell: that of a woman who, from a very young age, has suffered all forms of male domination, up to and including prostitution. From this universal story of exploitation, erasure and the search for freedom, composer Bushra El-Turk, director Laila Soliman, writer Stacy Hardy and filmmaker Aida Elkashef create a new multimedia production that weaves together diverse creative visions and challenges conventions. Opera as a powerful voice for a new wave of feminism without borders.

Woman at Point Zero, a bold and moving creation led by LOD muziektheater (Belgium), won the FEDORA - GENERALI Opera Prize 2020 and reached the stage for the first time at Festival d'Aix-en-Provence on 10 July 2022.
