On 14 November 2025, the first international Theatre Green Book conference brought together over 500 theatre makers and cultural leaders from 23 countries at the National Theatre in London. Our Innovation & Partnerships Manager, Diandra de Lima, attended the event: Sustainable Theatre: A Global Challenge.

The conference reflected the growing international commitment to reducing the cultural sector’s carbon footprint and strengthening eco-friendly practices. As FEDORA’s expert partner on sustainable approaches, Theatre Green Book continues to support opera houses and cultural institutions in adopting practical, impactful measures to advance their environmental transition.

Throughout the day, policy-makers, theatre directors, technical specialists, and network leaders explored how legislation, collaboration, and creative experimentation can drive meaningful and lasting change. Speakers from institutions shared concrete examples of how sustainability can be embedded across artistic planning, production processes, and organisational culture. The event also emphasised the vital role of networks, with Theatre Green Book communities from across Europe, Asia, and Latin America reaffirming their commitment to deeper cooperation and knowledge-sharing.

FEDORA warmly recognises the leadership behind this milestone gathering and remains committed to supporting sustainable development within the performing arts ecosystem, ensuring that creativity, innovation, and environmental responsibility continue to move forward together.
