On 21 May 2026, we were happy to have our Innovation & Partnerships Manager Diandra de Lima take part in L’Atelier du Ballet, a programme organised by the Ballet of the Opéra national du Rhin dedicated to artistic dialogue, reflection, and the future of ballet in contemporary society.

Within this framework, she participated in the public roundtable discussion “A New Generation of Choreographers for Ballet in the 21st Century,” joining a diverse panel of professionals from across the European performing arts sector.

The roundtable featured:

  • Bernard Baumgarten, Artistic Director, Trois C-L
  • Joëlle Smadja, Director, POLE-SUD
  • Laurence Romary, Performing Arts Project Officer, Région Grand Est
  • Sophie Laplane, independent choreographer
  • Gil Harush, independent choreographer
  • Noemi Coin, independent choreographer
  • Rubén Julliard, choreographic artist and choreographer at CCN∙Ballet de l’Opéra national du Rhin
  • Jesse Lyon, choreographic artist and choreographer at CCN∙Ballet de l’Opéra national du Rhin
  • Diandra Ferreira de Lima, Innovation & Partnerships Manager, FEDORA

The discussion focused on how a new generation of choreographers is reshaping ballet today through experimentation, interdisciplinary collaboration, evolving institutional frameworks, and renewed relationships with audiences. It highlighted the importance of supporting emerging artistic voices and fostering innovation within the European dance ecosystem.

The evening followed at 20:00 by the performance Danser Mozart au XXIe siècle. The programme concluded at 21:00 with a participatory Bal moderne led by Rubén Julliard as DJ, featuring artists from the Ballet of the Opéra national du Rhin. Taking place on the theatre forecourt, the event welcomed participants of all levels, from beginners to experienced dancers, with food trucks on site and free public access.

L'Atelier du Ballet 25/26

L’Atelier is the laboratory for reflection and innovation of the CCN∙Ballet de l’Opéra national du Rhin. Conceived as a space for dialogue between artists, researchers, institutional directors, and cultural partners, it supports the transformation of the Ballet and examines its role in the 21st century.

After five editions dedicated to choreographic dramaturgy, the Ballet’s artists, repertoire, its relationship with the city, and the values of the Ballet, this sixth edition addresses the question: “A new generation of choreographers for a Ballet in the 21st century.”
