Opera Europa Next Generation Audition Recital of Emerging Artsts

Two emerging artists from the Kyiv National Operetta Theatre, Kateryna Yasenchuk (soprano) and Oleksandr Kyreiev (baritone), represented Ukraine at the Opera Europa Next Generation Audition Recital on Sunday 16 March 2025 at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona. They performed “Lippen schweigen” from Franz Lehár’s Die lustige Witwe, Aria of Anna from Yuliy Meitus’s Stolen Happiness, and “Rivolgete a lui lo sguardo” from Mozart’s Così fan tutte, presenting a diverse and impressive repertoire that highlights their versatility and talent.
Oleksandr Kyreiev, a baritone from Shostka, Ukraine, is a graduate of the Ukraine National Academy of Music and a prizewinner at the Neue Stimmen International Competition. His repertoire includes roles such as Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Onegin (Eugene Onegin), and Robert (Iolanta). He has performed with the National Opera of Ukraine and was a member of the Bolshoi Theatre’s Young Artist Programme. Since 2020, he has been a soloist at the Kyiv National Opera of Ukraine.
Kateryna Yasenchuk, a soprano and laureate of national and international competitions, studied at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine and the Nino Rota Conservatory in Italy. Her stage experience spans both opera and musical theatre, with roles in The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Chicago, and The Saffron Rose. In 2023, she participated in the Portuguese-Ukrainian production of The Storm in Lisbon.
The Kyiv National Academic Operetta Theatre is one of Ukraine’s leading cultural institutions, renowned for its rich tradition in operetta, musical theatre, and opera. Established in 1934, it combines classical repertoire with contemporary productions, showcasing the talents of Ukraine’s finest vocalists and performers on both national and international stages.
