Last month, Opera Europa’s Marketing and Communications Forum meeting was hosted by FEDORA Platform Member La Monnaie/De Munt in Brussels, Belgium, bringing together opera professionals, experts, and guests.


Thursday 4 May 2023

  • Peter de Caluwe, Intendant, General and Artistic Director at La Monnaie/De Munt and André Kraft, Head of Marketing and Communication at the Komische Oper Berlin, opened the forum with a welcome address.

  • Erika Charbonnel, General Manager at Paradox Museum Stockholm and former Sales Director at Kairos Future, gave a keynote on Future Trends affecting the Performing Arts sector today.

  • Later on, Ing-Marie Persmo, Director of Market and Sales, and Lena Jaksch, Head of Communications at Göteborgs Operan, moderated a session on “Transforming Gothenburg Opera’s marketing”.


Friday 5 May 2023

  • In the morning, Wim Van Bree, Marketing & PR Manager at FEDORA Platform Member Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, in Antwerp, together with Katrijn De Wit, Head of Communications & Marketing and Press & Audience Development at DE SINGEL International Arts Centre, moderated a session entitled “How to collect data – CRM and ticketing systems, newsletters and social media”.

  • André Kraft, together with Wolfgang Graf, Co-Founder and CEO of Easy Connect, held two sessions on “How to process and analyse data”, followed by breakout sessions with the guests.

  • Later on in the afternoon, Kate Harriman, Head of Marketing, Communications and Audiences at Dutch National Opera & Ballet, Platform Member of FEDORA, in Amsterdam, moderated a session entitled “How to use data to increase sales and generate audiences”. 


Saturday 6 May 2023

  • On Saturday, Vik Leyten, Head of Dramaturgy, Audience Engagement and Marketing at La Monnaie/De Munt, moderated a session on “Data ethics and generating trust”.

  • Before the closing session of the conference, Audrey Brahimi, Head of Communications and Digital Development for FEDORA Platform Member Opéra Orchestre national Montpellier Occitanie, led a round-table discussion on “The Future”.


FOCUS POINT: Artificial Intelligence is coming to La Monnaie / De Munt

During the Opera Europa’s Marketing and Communications Forum meeting in Brussels, La Monnaie / De Munt shared information about how they worked with artificial intelligence in the launching of their 2023-2024 season. The Opera House drew inspiration from artificial intelligence such as ChatGPT and DALL-E to create their communications visuals for the 2023-2024 season. These innovations are presented as a mirror image of human fate and actions, in regards to the slogan of the season: There Will Be Fate.
