Under the theme “Purpose, passion, performance: shaping opera’s next decade,” the summit will address key questions around the future of opera, including artistic ambition, audience engagement, sustainability, technology and innovation.
Our director Edilia Gänz will take part in the Technology & Innovation discussion alongside Toby Young from Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Diego Fasciati from Irish National Opera, whose production Out of the Ordinary / As an nGnách won the 2021 FEDORA Digital Prize, and Hannu Järvensivu from Finnish National Opera & Ballet, whose production Laila - Immersive Installation won the 2020 FEDORA Digital Prize and whose project XR Stage was a recipient of the 2022 FEDORA Next Stage Grants.
The discussion will explore how technology and innovation are transforming the opera sector and opening up new possibilities for artistic creation, production and audience engagement.
As part of her participation, Edilia will also showcase projects supported through the FEDORA Prizes, highlighting how artists and cultural organisations across Europe are rethinking the ways opera and the performing arts are created, presented and experienced.
The FEDORA Prizes support ambitious projects that foster artistic innovation, collaboration and new forms of engagement, bringing together artists, cultural institutions and creative partners from across Europe and beyond. By sharing examples from the FEDORA network, Edilia will contribute to the broader conversation on the opportunities that innovation can bring to the future of opera.
We look forward to connecting with colleagues from across the sector, exchanging ideas and sharing the inspiring work emerging from FEDORA’s network.
