The Sound of the Northside: Young Voices Meet Opera

Irish National Opera joined forces with the Kabin Crew for The Sound of the Northside, bringing young voices together with the INO Orchestra in a vibrant encounter between rap, spoken word, singing and live orchestral music.

Developed through the collaboration between The Kabin Studio and Irish National Opera, the project creates a meeting point between different musical languages and gives young artists the opportunity to experience their own creative voices in dialogue with a professional orchestra.

The performance brings the energy and perspective of the Kabin Crew into an orchestral setting, demonstrating how opera organisations can connect with emerging artists and forms of expression beyond traditional operatic repertoire.

At the heart of the project is an emphasis on participation and creative exchange. By bringing young performers and professional orchestral musicians together, The Sound of the Northside creates space for experimentation while introducing audiences to new ways in which contemporary voices can interact with the opera world.

The collaboration also highlights the potential of cultural institutions to build connections with younger artists and communities, opening pathways for new stories, sounds and perspectives to reach the stage.
