FEDORA warmly congratulates Ted Huffman, member of the artistic team behind the opera creation Denis & Katya led by Opera Philadelphia, winner of the FEDORA – GENERALI Prize for Opera 2019, a chamber opera based on a true story that has been staged across major international opera houses.

Huffman has been appointed General Director of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, one of our valued Platform Members, and will officially take up his role on 1 January 2026 for a five-year term.

The Festival’s Board, with the support of the French Ministry of Culture and regional authorities, unanimously approved Huffman’s appointment. He succeeds the late Pierre Audi, the festival’s long-time director and an esteemed FEDORA Opera Prize jury member, whose vision and commitment to innovation helped shape the Festival and supported countless emerging artists. Huffman will carry out the artistic programme conceived by Pierre Audi for the 2026 edition and, in part, for the 2027 edition, before developing his own artistic programming for the years to come.

FEDORA looks forward to accompanying the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Ted Huffman and his great team as this new chapter unfolds, continuing to support emerging creators who redefine the art form of opera for tomorrow’s audiences.
