Participants at Opera Europa’s Geneva conference (2–3 October 2025) will have the unique opportunity to engage with leading experts in sustainability, inclusion, and digital transformation, gaining practical strategies and insights to drive meaningful change within their performing arts organisations. Expert Partner of the FEDORA Opera Prize and of the FEDORA – VAN CLEEF & ARPELS Dance Prize, Opera Europa is the leading service organisation for professional opera companies and festivals in Europe, representing over 215 members from 43 countries and offering free streaming of performances on its OperaVision platform.

Sustainability with Thema1 / Aktionsnetzwerk Nachhaltigkeit

Sustainability experts Katharina Laura Kunz and Sophie Brune from Aktionsnetzwerk Nachhaltigkeit Thema1 (Germany) will guide participants through strategies to integrate environmentally responsible practices into their organisations. Thema1, an independent Berlin-based think-do-tank, specializes in accelerating the transition to a low-carbon society and managing complex, multi-stakeholder processes. As part of their work with the Sustainability Action Network, they initiate and accompany pilot projects across the cultural and media sectors, supporting institutions to reduce their carbon footprint and operational impact.

Inclusion with BPI – Learn

Adam Kratoska and Owen Gao of BPI – Learn (United Kingdom) bring expertise in building inclusive workplaces and professional environments. BPI partners with leaders and teams to unlock their potential, strengthen core capabilities, and achieve lasting organisational transformation. Together with BPI, the programme offers workshops for opera managers and emerging artists on best practices for inclusivity, providing practical tools to foster equitable participation and access within the sector.

Digital Transformation with IMZ International Music + Media Centre

Peter Maniura (UK) and Leonie Bartels (Austria) from the IMZ Academy of the International Music + Media Centre (IMZ) will guide sessions on digital transformation in the performing arts. Founded under the aegis of UNESCO in 1961, IMZ is dedicated to preserving music and dance as cultural assets and promoting the performing arts through audiovisual media. Their expertise will help institutions leverage digital tools to engage new audiences, enhance professional development, and strengthen institutional resilience.

This expert-led programme provides a rare opportunity to connect with thought leaders and sector specialists, gain actionable insights, and exchange ideas with peers in an in-person setting. By combining knowledge across sustainability, inclusion, and digital innovation, participants will leave equipped with practical strategies to implement meaningful change within their organisations.

The Sustainability Action Network is a cross-sectoral contact point for the topic operational ecology in the area culture and media. Together with its partners, the action network initiates pilot projects which it accompanies, evaluates and communicates .
