About the project

These short, engaging videos take viewers into the heart of the opera house—from rehearsal rooms to costume workshops and the stage itself. Rather than focusing solely on performance, the series shines a light on the many creative hands and voices that shape a production. From vocal coaching and design to technical rigging, Faust comes to life through collaborative expertise and detailed craft. This video series captures that process, giving the public a rare window into the daily life of the theatre.

About the artists

In Chantons Faust !, opera singer Mélinée Lesschaeve and pianist Jacques Schab offer a lively introduction to the music, teaching viewers how to sing selections from the opera.

Costumières Magali Norris and Camille Devos open the doors to their atelier, walking us through the design and construction of costumes based on Christian Lacroix’s sketches.

On the technical side, stage manager and chief machinist Pierre Miné Deleplanque reveals the secrets of the set design and how the visual world of Faust is built and moved behind the scenes.

Together, these portraits celebrate the artistry and teamwork that make opera possible.

Platform Member Opéra de Lille

Since its reopening in December 2003, following a complete renovation of the building, the Opéra de Lille has established itself as a leading opera house on a national scale. Openness is its primary ambition: openness to all repertoires, openness to current creative aesthetics and to emerging artists, openness to all audiences, openness to all the territories of the region and beyond, etc. With each new season, the project brings together a wide audience around an original and demanding programme, anchoring opera, dance and the messages it conveys in the imagination of an ever more attentive public.
