FEDORA is proud to highlight two powerful success stories from its network that exemplify the long-term impact of artistic support, leadership, and creative excellence in European dance.

FEDORA proudly highlights two outstanding success stories from its network, as Ted Brandsen and Alexei Ratmansky have been named Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture, one of France’s highest distinctions for artistic achievement.

The Order of Arts and Letters recognises individuals who have distinguished themselves in the artistic or literary fields and those who have contributed to the influence of arts and culture in France and internationally. This prestigious honour celebrates both creative excellence and lasting impact.

Ted Brandsen, Director and Choreographer of Dutch National Ballet and FEDORA – VAN CLEEF & ARPELS Dance Prize Jury Member since 2018, has been appointed Knight in recognition of his significant contribution to the world of dance through artistic leadership, creation, and mentorship.

Alexei Ratmansky, Choreographer, likewise receives this distinction following a career that has profoundly shaped contemporary ballet worldwide. His connection to FEDORA dates back 11 years, when his production of Sleeping Beauty was awarded the FEDORA – VAN CLEEF & ARPELS Prize for Ballet 2015, a landmark project that remains emblematic of the Prize’s commitment to artistic ambition and innovation. The FEDORA - VAN CLEEF & ARPELS Dance Prize is supported by                                   Van Cleef & Arpels, in collaboration with Opera Europa. The FEDORA Prizes competition is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Commission.
