Industry News, Nominee
FEDORA proudly highlights a major milestone in contemporary opera, as Franciska Éry has been awarded the Carmen Mateu Young Artist European Award 2025 for A Bathroom Opera, an innovative, immersive project connecting young audiences with opera.
The jury praised Éry’s work for its artistic quality, multidisciplinary approach, and participatory format, opening opera to new generations. Éry was previously recognised by FEDORA when her interactive opera SÉISME was nominated for the FEDORA Digital Prize 2022, a project blending music, poetry, AI, and audience interaction.
Éry has built an international career across leading European institutions, including the Royal Opera House, Opera Holland Park, and Montpellier National Opera. This award celebrates her creative vision and growing impact on European operatic and educational landscapes.
The Fundació Privada Castell de Peralada has announced that A Bathroom Opera is the winning project of the fourth edition of the Carmen Mateu Young Artist European Award, Opera and Dance, dedicated this year to the opera category in the artistic-educational project modality.
