An Inspiring Weekend in Aix: Rethinking the Future of the Performing Arts
FEDORA's Activities
This July, our team travelled to Aix-en-Provence to take part in the Festival d’Aix’s Journées Professionnelles for our Funding Programmes Manager Diandra de Lima, and Les Rencontres Économiques d’Aix for our Director Edilia Gänz, deepening FEDORA’s commitment to connecting with partners and explore new opportunities for the performing arts sector.
At the Journées Professionnelles, artists, producers, and funders came together to discuss co-production possibilities and support structures for emerging opera creators. The meetings provided a practical space to exchange ideas on how networks and production models can evolve to encourage artistic innovation while strengthening sustainable career pathways for the next generation.
In parallel, Les Rencontres Économiques gathered policymakers, cultural leaders, and economic stakeholders to reflect on the role of culture within society and its contribution to resilience and social cohesion, underlining the value of cultural investment within Europe’s future.
A meaningful moment in Aix was the hommage to Pierre Audi, whose visionary leadership at the Festival d’Aix and commitment to nurturing artists continue to inspire FEDORA’s mission.
These days of exchange highlighted the importance of maintaining cross-sector dialogue to ensure that the performing arts continue to thrive in a rapidly changing European landscape.
