Key Dates:
Applications open: 30 April 2025
Deadline: 10 July 2025, 23:59 GMT
Winner announcement: December 2025
World premiere of the commissioned project: Peralada Festival 2026
An international jury composed of Richard Brunel, Vania Cauzillo, Barbara Minghetti, and Rafael R. Villalobos will evaluate the submissions and select the winning project based on artistic excellence and educational value.
We warmly invite eligible young artists to apply and contribute to reimagining opera for future generations and to continue making opera a lively and accessible experience.
"Since its first edition, the Carmen Mateu Award has stood out for being a genuine and soulful project, which champions young talent and supports creation as a tool for the future. With this new educational approach, we want to reaffirm our commitment to contemporary creation and dialogue with new audiences, to continue making opera a lively and accessible experience".
