Carlos Acosta CBE, Director
Birmingham Royal Ballet is committed to the development of new and emerging dance makers and as such we are delighted to be part of FEDORA, which supports that ethos across Europe. We look forward to supporting the growth of the network, bringing exceptional work to new audiences.

Carlos Acosta CBE, Director

Birmingham Royal Ballet has established an international recognition touring exceptional productions across the UK and around the world. Carlos Acosta was appointed Director in January 2020 and is already expanding that reputation with exciting new commissions and revisiting classic productions.

BRB performs work at a variety of scales, from large classical repertoire such as Swan Lake and Sir Peter Wright’s The Nutcracker, to accessible family pieces in regional venues. We continue to invest in the development of the art form through our Ballet Now programme, which sees the creation of ten new ballets over five years. It is this investment in the future that we believe keeps Ballet relevant to the audiences of today.

Under the Direction of Koen Kessels, The Royal Ballet Sinfonia, BRBs orchestra and the only dedicated ballet orchestra in the UK, is a jewel in the crown of the company. Our commitment to the commissioning and performing of new music has been key since the founding of the company by Dame Ninette de Valois in 1946.
