FEDORA - The European Circle of Philanthropists of Opera and Ballet ( is a non-profit organisation that supports creativity and innovation in opera and ballet. Through its funding programmes, the FEDORA Prizes Biennale and the Next Stage Grants, FEDORA provides both funding opportunities and capacity-building to its network of around 100 opera houses and dance companies all over Europe.

Internationally recognized as the largest opera and dance competition and European Platform for new work in opera and dance, FEDORA aims to guarantee the future of these art forms in Europe. Four prizes are awarded to promising teams who collaborate on the creation of new opera and dance co-productions, and on the involvement and education of new and young audiences. And the Next Stage grants are attributed to projects that drive innovation through sustainable, inclusive and digital transformation on, behind and beyond the stage.


We are looking for a new team member to join our young and international team as Funding Programmes Trainee under the supervision of the Funding Programmes Manager.

The Trainee reports to the Funding Programmes Manager, but will work closely with all team members to gain insights about the work in a cultural organisation.

The Trainee will gain an understanding of funding programmes for a non-profit organisation (that is co-funded by the European Commission and upholds the highest reporting and audit standards), operating knowledge of software such as Salesforce, non-profit budget management and project finance, business skills related to cultural institutions and expand their personal and professional skills and network.

Responsibilities include:

Funding Programmes Coordination:

  • Assist with strategic planning

  • Accompany nominated projects of the FEDORA Prizes Competition

  • Coordinate the publication of content about the nominees of the FEDORA Prizes on our Platform

  • Assist in the preparation and boosting of the crowdfunding and public voting campaigns of nominees

  • Monitor campaign advancements and make adjustments in collaboration with nominees and FEDORA’s Communication Department

  • Assist in the coordination and preparation of the jury meetings

  • Assist in coordinating winner alumni

Event management:

  • Assist in coordinating the FEDORA Prizes Nominees Announcement Event in September 2022

  • Assist in coordinating the FEDORA Prizes Award Night (content, speakers, technical set-up and catering) which will also mark FEDORA’s 10-year anniversary in Paris in 2023

  • Assist in the budgeting of the events

Support of capacity-building activities:

  • Contribute to the coordination of university research projects

  • Contribute to the coordination of expert partners and capacity-building workshops around the topics of sustainability, inclusivity and digital transformation

  • Contribute to the coordination of fundraising workshops for the Prizes Nominees


Education & work experience

  • Master’s degree in any field, preferably business administration, cultural management, marketing or fundraising

  • Previous experience in fundraising, sales or event management is preferable

Important skills

  • Outstanding organisational, planning and time-management skills

  • Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Strong customer service and public relations skills

  • Proactive and independent work style, with good team spirit

  • Rigour, attention to detail and willingness to learn

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel), Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere), Google tools (Google drive suite, YouTube, Analytics, etc.), GESCOM, or Salesforce is an advantage

Language skills

  • English (fluent written and spoken)

  • French (fluent written and spoken)

  • Additional languages are an advantage
